Morgan L. DODD

Morgan Dodd was the youngest of seven children, he had limited formal education as so many of this generation had. He grew up to be somewhat of a workaholic, always having at least two jobs and running a business in his spare time. He developed a serious back pain in his forties and started taking pain killers to deal with it. After 10 or 15 years of taking large doses of "222s" with codeine it was discovered that he had destroyed his kidney. The technology of dialysis was mature enough that he was able to live for several year with a visit to the hospital every three or four days for treatment. Morgan took early retirement at about 58 due to his poor health and seemed to be enjoying his time a little better.

At the age of 59 Morgan was discovered to have an inoperable brain tumor. After the operation which discovered the nature of the tumor, the doctors did not revive him. They allowed him to expire. His body is buried at the Bethel United Church cemetery in Port Colborne, Ontario, but his memory lives on in the hearts of his children and those who knew him as a kind and generous man.
