Looking at your site on the internet we seem to have 2 things in common- Cowx and Sarnia.  We lived in the latter for 3 years 69-72 and at that time I did not know the name Cowx. I can't help you with your particular branch but I can tell you a little about the name. The family almost all came from a small area in Cumberland just south of the Scottish border (a beautiful area to the north of the Lake District) and there are still Cowx living there. Because of the unusual name it has been quite well researched by various people. My own ancestor is from early 1800s. I will look to see if any likely Josephs show up on will copies that I have been given.
